Telerama Internet operates a mixed
computing environment with a variety of
operating system, predominantly Unix variants
and IOS. This position is responsible for the
proper delivery of all our standard ISP
services, such as email, dial-up, ADSL/SDSL, T1,
T3, and web hosting.
Applicants must be
comfortable with most aspects of UNIX systems
administration including configuration of mail
systems, system installation and configuration,
printing systems, computer security, and
installing third-party
software.
Familiarity with computer
networking is necessary for this position.
Applicants should be comfortable with TCP/IP,
DNS, email internals, and web systems. You must
understand basic routing concepts.
You
must be comfortable the idea of using on-line
chat systems to interact with co-workers.
Initial interviews with candidates will be
conducted on-line in real time.
Preferred
experience includes:
* three to five
years UNIX system administration experience
*
ability to write scripts in an administrative
language (shell or Perl)
* ability to
instruct novice administrators and other less
technical staff
* technical writing skills
required to provide internal
documentation
Salary is commensurate with
experience. We have an excellent benefits

To qualify for this
position, you must complete a series of tests to
demonstrate your ability to understand and
quickly master new technologies. These tests
involve logging into our machines to perform
several tasks. They are intended to be completed
remotely from any Internet connected location,
and do not require broadband access. The
sequence of tests is self-paced to allow you to
take them as you can make the time. We intend
for you to complete the tests within a few days
of starting. The total time involved in taking
the tests is estimated at 4 hours.
